Biography

Prof. Anand Srivastava: Anand Srivastava did his M.Tech. and Ph.D. from IIT Delhi. Before joining IIIT Delhi, he was Dean & Professor in School of Computing and Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, HP, India and also Adjunct Professor at IIT Delhi. Prior to this, he was with Alcatel-Lucent-Bell Labs, India as solution architect for access and core networks. Before joining Alcatel Lucent, he had a long stint (∼ 20 years) with Center for Development of Telematics (CDOT), a telecom research center of Govt. of India where he was Director and member of CDOT Board. During my stay in CDOT, he provided technical leadership and motivation to extremely qualified team of about 150+ engineers engaged in the development of national level projects in the areas of Telecom Security Systems, Network Management System, Intelligent Networks, Operations Support Systems, Access Networks (GPON) and Optical Technology based products. Majority of these projects were completed successfully and commercially deployed in the public network. He also carried out significant research work in the Photonics Research Lab, Nice, France, under the Indo-French Science & Technology Cooperation Program on “Special optical fibers and fiber based components for optical communications” during 2007-2010. He was also closely involved with ITU-T, Geneva in Study Group 15 and represented India for various optical networking standards meetings. His research work is in the area of optical core & access networks, Fiber-Wireless (FiWi) architectures, optical signal processing, free space optical communications and energy aware optical networks.

Prof. Andrew Lord: Andrew Lord received the B.A. Hons. degree in physics from Oxford University, Oxford, U.K., in 1985. After graduating, he joined British Telecommunications, Ipswich, U.K., where he currently is an Optical Specialist and is responsible for directing research into optical access and core transport and networks. He worked on all implementations of DWDM technology since then, including large subsea systems such as TAT14 as well as national and Ministry of Defense DWDM networks. He has helped lead the EU collaborative projects NOBEL, STRONGEST, and currently IDEALIST. He currently serves on the technical subcommittees of several conferences and is the core networks subcommittee chair for ECOC 2013 and will be the OFC Technical Program Committee chair for 2015. He is a Visiting Professor at Essex University, U.K., and Associate Editor of the Journal of Optical Communications and Networking.

Dr. Bijoy Chand Chaterjee: Bijoy Chand Chatterjee received the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Tezpur University in 2014. From 2014 to 2017, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Communication Engineering and Informatics, the University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, Japan, where he was engaged in researching and developing high-speed flexible optical backbone networks with  the collaboration among the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), Japan, University of Texas at Dallas, USA, Keio University, Japan, and University of Virginia, USA. He is currently working at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi, as a faculty member. He has authored over 50 journal/conference papers, including  IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology, IEEE/OSA Journal of Optical Communications and Networking, IEEE Communications Letters, Computer Networks – Elsevier, IET Electronics Letters, etc. He has authored of the book Routing and Wavelength Assignment for WDM-based Optical Networks: Quality-of-Service and Fault Resilience (Cham, Switzerland: Springer International Publishing, 2016). His research interests include QoS-aware protocols, cross-layer design, fog networking, optical networks, and elastic optical networks.

Dr. Abhijit Mitra: Abhijit Mitra has joined ECE Dept. at IIIT Delhi on October 2017. He has done his PhD in Elastic Optical Networks (EON) under the supervision of Prof. Subrat Kar, EE Dept., IIT Delhi and Prof. Andrew Lord, Head of Optics, British Telecom, UK. He was awarded British Telecom fellowship to pursue his PhD and has been working with the Optics Research Group at BT since 6 years. His research findings lead to world's first 1.4 Tbps field trial done between BT London Tower and BT Headquaters at Adastral Park, Ipswich. His research work has been making disruptive contributions towards the broadband telecom infrastructure and has been recognized by industry (Nokia Bell Labs, Cienna, Xtera) and academia (University College London (UCL), University of Cambridge, IIT Delhi). He has co-authored research papers with leading researchers of the telecom field. He has been awarded research grants by DST, Govt. of India to work on developing highly sustained broadband infrastructure for the country. Earlier Dr. Mitra has done his MS in Broadband Wireless and Optical Communication from University of Leeds, 2010 and worked with Dr. Andrew Kemp in WSN Labs, University of Leeds as a Research Associate. He did his B.Tech from Uttar Pradesh Technical University in 2009.
