Dr. Abhijit Mitra joined ECE Dept., IIIT Delhi as Department of Science and Technology (DST) Inspire Faculty on October 2017.
He has been awarded research grants by DST, Govt. of India to carry out research for designing the Pan-India high capacity Elastic Optical Network (EON).
He has founded the Broadband Information Transport (BIT) group to realize this vision along with active collaboration involving Prof. Andrew Lord, Head of Optics, British Telecom, Prof. Anand Srivastava and Dr. Bijoy Chand Chaterjee.
Dr. Mitra has also founded the Quantum Information Communication (QIC) Group in IIIT Delhi along with Dr. Sanat Biswas to design the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) network . The QKD network will be responsibile for providing unconditional security to next generation broadband networks.
To find a cheaper alternative for connecting the rural citizens of India to the digital platform Dr. Mitra has joined the Visual Light Communication (VLC) research group to provide low-cost last mile connectivity for NOFN.
